getting up 2

Wednesday, April 7

I have brought my ticket out of town today and will leave tomorrow to go to Mopti. I just wasn't masochistic enough to get a bus all the way to Timbuktu but I did think about it, however 3 days continuously on a bus in the desert is too much ..... even for me.

Was thinking of getting a pinasse down the Niger river from Mopti to Timbuktu but spoke to a Swiss girl and she said because the river is so low and as her boat broke down it took 8 days and not 3. It is not the first time I have heard this story. I have also heard that there is a girl in Mopti trying to organise a private boat if she can get enough people which will be faster so maybe I will but even 3 days on a boat seems a lot.

The Catholic Mission is pretty chilled and I've pretty much seen all there is to see here. It is getting really hot and I can't be out in the middle of the day now without losing my mind. It has been 40° everyday and will only get worse til I cross the border.
